What can you tell us about your new single, “Nothing I Wouldn’t Do”?

AD: “Nothing I Wouldn’t Do” is a take on jazz with a heavy pop influence. “Nothing I Wouldn’t Do” is based around falling into a love that you would do anything to continue. From the moment you meet that person, you instantly knew they were the one that you would “walk a thousand miles” to be with.

Did you always know that music was something you wanted to pursue?

AD: Once I started writing my own songs, I knew that I wanted music to always be apart of my life. The feeling of creating something from scratch and listening to the final product is always an outer-world experience, and once I started producing I’ve truly found a love for the craft.

What can you tell us about your time on season 2 of American Idol?

AD: American Idol was a pretty unique experience as a musician. Not really expecting to audition that year, the opportunity really allowed me to exponentially grow as a musician and singer, constantly thinking of new songs, practicing, warming up, and growing each day. Once making it to the celebrity rounds, it was really dope to connect with all the other artists who were going through the same process, and relate to their emotions and thoughts during the audition process. It was great to connect with the musicians and have a little group to hang with during the downtime at Hollywood week.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

AD: I’d tell upcoming musicians to keep researching your sound. Try and expand the artists that you listen to, find someone really close to the place you’re at and see how your artistry could adapt to what they’re doing and how they promo themselves on socials and through their music.

What is your favorite song to perform live?

AD: I would say my favorite song to play live would have to be “Empty Promises”, playing it with my bandmates really brings out a new energy to the set

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?

AD: Whenever I’m writing a new tune, I like to keep the creative process pretty open per each song. I usually like to start with the chord progression (being a guitarist) and let that “tell” the story to me, but sometimes I’ll start my songwriting process with the lyrics, usually leading to me tying a melody to it and then trying to fix some chords into that melody.

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?

AD: Some of the best advice I’ve gotten for music is to do it because you love it. Think back to the first time you started doing music and why you wanted to do it. Sometimes you can get down with a lack of opportunities but thinking back to why you originally started music really allows a fresh start in the process.

Which musician would you like to collaborate with in the future?

AD: I think it’d be really cool to collab with Mac Ayres or Conor Albert, they both got really dope vibe that I feel I could mix in great with.
