We were joined on the Popternative show by Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton, Fair Play), Whitney Peak (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Home Before Dark), and Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place II, Blood Diamond) to discuss their new shark thriller, Thrash. The film premiered April 10 on Netflix.
Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night, Dead Snow),Thrash takes place during a Category 5 hurricane that decimates a coastal town bringing devastation, chaos, and sharks, including a great white. The cast also includes Matt Nable (Apple Cider Vinegar, Riddick), Andrew Lees (Unfriended: Dark Web, Roswell, New Mexico), Alyla Browne (Sting, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart), Stacy Clausen (Leviticus, Scrublands), and newcomer Dante Ubaldi.
Dynevor, Peak and Hounsou discuss some of the intense physical demands of filming Thrash, including a week Dynevor spent shooting in a submerged car surrounded by wind and rain machines, creating a claustrophobic and challenging environment. They also reflect on their characters’ perspectives during the storm and the collaborative atmosphere on set.
