Netflix’s hit series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega as the title character will be returning for a second season on the streaming service, but while fans wait now is the perfect opportunity to look back and dig deeper into what made the series so great in the first place.
Johnna Dias-Watson has a role in the ensemble cast as Divina inWednesday with much of her scenes associated with Joy Sunday’s character Bianca Barclay, a siren student at Nevermore Academy and an initial rival to Wednesday Adams. Dias-Watson is also a siren in the show and was excited to see her cast mate Oliver Watson, who plays Kent, put his siren skills to use in the infamous boat race scene.

“Oliver’s stuff was really exciting because we wanted to see it and obviously, we filmed the boat stuff separately because he had to be underwater, so they didn’t film quite in conjunction with each other. But we had read the description of what’s happening in the script and we knew he was shooting it and I was just so excited to see that,” Dias-Watson told Popternative host Petey Beats.
Another aspect that Dias-Watson was excited about was having a role in the show’s secret society known as The Nightshade. “The Nightshades, I mean absolutely one of my favorite things that we got to do because first off the capes; the capes and the masks. I mean you’re basically doing Halloween at work. It’s so cool. It’s so awesome and those days on set as well were so fun just because it was the group of us and we were out there for so long and we all just got really close. So the Nightshade scenes were really fun to shoot and also it did have that kind of epic element of like ‘we’re the secret society at this school’ and in this Addams Family universe. It was nuts,” she shared.
