Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim makes her directorial debut in the comedy film Joy Ride premiering in theaters Friday, July 7. With a predominantly Asian cast, Ashley Park (Beef, Emily in Paris), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble, Shortcomings), Sabrina Wu, and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) star in the movie as a group of friends who “bond and discover the truth of what it means to know and love who you are, while they travel through Asia in search of one of their birth mothers.”

If you’ve seen promo for the movie then you’re fully aware that the comedy level of Joy Ride can be classified as risqué, but this movie isn’t the first time a female led cast dived into the racier side of humor.
