We chatted with folk duo Lone Deer Laredo about their new single “Fever Fever” off their upcoming album. Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, the duo consists of Paola Suhonen and Olli Happonen. We ask them all about their new music, their creative process, and lots more.

What can you tell us about your new music?

Our brand new single “Fever Fever” is a love song and a mixture of americana, folk, pop and a little bit of nordic melancholy. It presents the first taste of the Lone Deer Laredo vol. 2/7 album that will be out internationally in February 2022.

How excited are you to release new music?

So glad that you ask this since we’re very excited and happy about the new material and it seems people are receiving it very well too.

What is your favorite song to perform live?

Hmm… it must be “Stars Stars Lights and Paradise” from the first Lone Deer Laredo album, or our new song called “Last Motel.”

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?

Usually it goes like this: Either one of the duo brings the new song in and we start to rehearse it with our voices and two acoustic guitars. Eventually, we fly from Helsinki to Nashville and to Brad Jones’s studio where the final magic starts to happen.

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?

If it works only with an acoustic guitar and a voice then it’s a good song.

Which musician would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Well… someone like Jack White. Do you have his phone number?
