We had the chance to chat with Maryland-based electro/pop artist Vicu about his new live video for his track “Focused on You.”

How excited are you to release this new live video?
I am super excited. It was an incredible experience and my band was amazing as well. Also, the first guitar I ever held was a Gibson my dad bought when he was 14, so Gibson has been in the family for a long time.
Who is VICU as an artist?
I am very driven when it comes to my music. I truly and genuinely love every bit of the process. I was born to do this. I spent 10 years in my bedroom training myself to get to where I am now and I’m so grateful I have the right team in my corner. Got some huge things coming up!
Did you plan on blending a lot of genres with your music, or did it just happen?
So, I grew up listening to all different styles of music (Boys to Men, New Edition, Luther Vandross, George Michael, Elton John, John Mayer, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Phantom of the Opera. So, yeah it just happens, haha.
What is the best thing about performing music?
I’m really telling my story when I’m singing live. All my songs capture my true emotions as it pertains to the subject I chose to write about. It brings me peace to be honest.
When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?
My hope is I can bring joy to somebody’s environment. Sometimes we can’t change our scenery, and life gets really hard sometimes. I know first hand music can take you places outside of where you’re at. If I can do that for people, I’ve done my job.
