We had a chance to chat with Lonnie Chavis on the podcast about his newest film he stars in, The Water Man, which is David Oyelowo‘s directorial debut. You may recognize Lonnie Chavis who plays the younger version of Randall on the hit drama series This Is Us. In The Water Man, he is joined by the phenomenal cast of David Oyelowo, Rosario Dawson, Amiah Miller, Alfred Molina and Maria Bello. The film will be available only in theaters on May 7th, 2021.
The Water Man Official Synopsis
Gunner (Chavis) sets out on a quest to save his ill mother (Dawson) by searching for a mythic figure who possesses the secret to immortality, the Water Man. After enlisting the help of a mysterious local girl, Jo (Miller), they journey together into the remote Wild Horse forest — but the deeper they venture, the stranger and more dangerous the forest becomes. Their only hope for rescue is Gunner’s father (Oyelowo), who will stop at nothing to find them and in the process will discover who his son really is.
In our interview, Chavis goes in depth about his experience working on this film including working with Oyelowo, Miller and Dawson. He also discusses the learning experiences and challenges in making this adventure film which is great for the whole family.
