The series is a prequel to Yellowstone, and follows the Dutton family in Texas as they set to build a better life in Montana. In our interview, Emma tells us what we can expect from 1883 and from her character:
This is the origin story of who we know to be the Dutton family, this is following James Dutton and Margaret Dutton played by incredible Faith Hill and Tim McGraw […] and it’s following their journey west from Texas onward. I play the niece of Faith Hill and Tim McGraws’ characters, I play Mary Abel Dutton, she was such a fun character, I will say this: she is absolutely nothing like me.
She also discusses the excitement for 1883 from fans, working with the amazing cast and crew, being a storyteller, working with Sarah Paulson in American Crime Story, and much more.
