We were joined on the Popternative show by actor and writer Pico Alexander to discuss his co-starring role alongside Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) in Lionsgate’s new comedy film The Honeymoon which was released in December. This also marked Popternative’s last interview of 2022. Directed by Dean Craig (The Estate), the movie also stars Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Lucas Bravo (Emily in Paris), Marco Valerio Montesano (Vado e vengo), Michele Enrico Montesano (Settembre), and Kai Portman (The Tracker).
The Honeymoon Synopsis
In this raunchy romantic comedy, Adam (Pico Alexander) whisks his new bride Sarah (Maria Bakalova), to Venice for a honeymoon. But when Adam brings best friend Bav (Asim Chaudhry) along for the ride, Bav causes one gross-out disaster after another. When charming gangster Giorgio (Lucas Bravo) falls for Sarah, he gets rid of Adam and Bav by sending them across the border on a drug-dealing mission. Can they outrun the Slovenian cops, dodge bullets from the baddies, and get back before Sarah gets a rich new mobster boyfriend? From the writer of Death at a Funeral and Love Wedding Repeat.
In our interview, Pico talks about working with Asim and Maria, filming a movie which balances comedy and action, and his career journey into being a storyteller.
