We had the pleasure of chatting with Ja’Siah Young, Sammi Haney, Griffin Robert Faulkner and Gavin Munn on the Popternative show about starring in Netflix’s Raising Dion.
Raising Dion Season 2
Raising Dion follows the story of Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Two years after defeating the Crooked Man (Jason Ritter), season 2 follows Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) – a fellow powered kid – a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming. Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again — not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.
In our interview, Ja’Siah Young, who plays Dion, goes into detail about working with Rome Flynn and Jason Ritter on the hit Netflix series.
Griffin Robert Faulkner discusses playing the super villain character and what comes with that role in season 2.
Sammi Haney reveals her favourite things about playing Esperanza. She also talks about the excitement about having more screen time in season 2.
Gavin Munn, who plays Jonathan, discusses the great growth of his character from season 1 to 2. Jonathan is introduced as a bully who gets forced into peer pressure, but eventually becomes friends with Dion and Esperanza.
