We caught up with Indie Pop artist Cloe Wilder about her new music! Here’s what she had to say!

How excited are you to be releasing new music?
I’m beyond. It’s nice to be back.

What can you tell us about your new song?
I wrote “We’re Not Special’ with Sam Nicolosi back in September. It’s written as if I’m speaking to this person about all of the reasons why we’re exactly like everyone else. There’s nothing we can say or do that will give us a better shot at this. It’s this complicated mess that makes us hurt. Maintaining relationships can feel so useless to me sometimes. Nothing feels special yet and I think that’s okay.

When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?
Whatever they want! I’m only here to make music and I’m grateful for any attention it gets. Universally, I think we’re all comforted by similar things in music.

How would you describe the sound of your music?
Warm, conversational, and a little ethereal.

Who would you say are some of your musical influences?
Currently, Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver… Lana Del Rey was my very first musical inspiration, which I think makes sense for me.

Did you always know that music was something you wanted to pursue?
Yes, in a way. I’ve always been obsessed with music. I went to my first writing camp when I was 12; that’s where I fell in love with the idea of being an artist.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
There’s nothing wrong with waiting to release music. Taking the time to grow as a songwriter and better understand your art is equally as beneficial.

What is your favorite song to perform live?
“I Wanna Be Alone With You”  is pretty fun to perform live.

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?
I like to sing until a melody/lyric stands out to me. I try not to get caught up in concepts. I have a way of expressing myself lyrically that comes easily.

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?
The best advice I’ve been given is that my fear of looking uncool is actually uncool. In the sweetest way possible, I needed to get over myself and write music that I love.

Which musician would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Phoebe Bridgers!!
