
10 New Shows to Watch in May 2026
May 2026 has a lot of new TV to look forward to. From new spinoffs of popular shows, to animated comedy, crime thrillers, to drama, there’s a lot of variety. The month kicks off with The Other Bennet Sister on May 6, A Pride and Prejudice-inspired period drama following Mary Bennet as she leaves home and finds her own path in Regency-era London. This is followed by the crime thriller M.I.A. on May 7 which sees a woman being pulled into Miami’s dangerous underworld after her family’s drug empire collapses. On May 9, the historical action drama set in late Edo-era Japan, Song of the Samurai, debuts on HBO Max, an adaptation of the manga series, Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem.
The highly-ancitipcated college hockey romance series, Off Campus, based on the popular book series, premieres May 13 on Prime Video and has already been renewed for a second season. Yellowstone fans will want to keep May 15 in mind as Dutton Ranch sees Rip and Beth start over in Texas. The new dark comedy thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed premieres on May 20, following a divorced mom who gets entangled in blackmail, murder, and a conspiracy.
The Duffer Brothers’ The Boroughs brings sci-fi mayhem to a retirement community on May 21 where elderly heroes must confront a growing threat. Nick Kroll is back with a new Netflix adult animated series in Mating Season on May 22 about love and relationships told through a group of forest animals. Nicolas Cage makes his TV debut on may 27 with Spider-Noir, a gritty superhero noir on Prime Video following an aging private investigator in 1930s New York who once lived as a masked vigilante. Closing off the month is another spinoff series, Star City (For All Mankind spinoff) exploring an alternate-history Soviet space race.

Song of the Samurai – May 9 (HBO Max)
Genre: Japanese Period Action Drama
