Ted Lasso fans have a lot to celebrate these days. The Apple TV+ series took home 4 Emmy awards this year, including Best Comedy Series for the second consecutive year. Yesterday, fans got even more exciting news: Ted Lasso and the fictional AFC Richmond soccer team will officially be part of the FIFA 23 video game. This means that characters from the series will be options for gamers to play as.
EA Sports made the announcement yesterday over social media along with a teaser trailer.
The official Ted Lasso Twitter account also tweeted out parts of the teaser video.
In a statement, Jason Sudeikis welcomed the collaboration between his series and FIFA 23: “Our cast and crew work tremendously hard on this show, and we are flattered that it resonates with so many folks. We look forward to our fans having the opportunity to play with, play as, and even play against their favourite AFC Richmond characters” he said.
