As the third installment of the Monster anthology series is now streaming on Netflix, production has also begun in Los Angeles for Season 4. The new season will center on Lizzie Borden, the infamous Massachusetts woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892.
Ella Beatty (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You) will play Lizzie Borden alongside Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), who played Ed Gein in the most recent season, as he returns to the anthology as Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father. Another Season 3 cast member is also joining Season 4: Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) will play the Bordens’ live-in maid, Bridget Sullivan.
Also starring in Season 4 are Rebecca Hall (Christine) as Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby Borden, Billie Lourd (American Horror Story) as Lizzie’s older sister Emma, and Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World) as Lizzie’s friend, Nance O’Neill.
Max Winkler (Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Grotesquerie) will direct the first episode.
