We were joined on the Popternative show by Monk creator Andy Breckman and Tony Shalhoub to discuss the new film Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, streaming now on Peacock. Shalhoub returns as the titular TV character and executive produces with Caitlin McGee (Mythic Quest) and James Purefoy (Pennyworth) newly joining the cast. Returning Monk cast include Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard, Melora Hardin, and Hector Elizondo.

The Emmy Award-winning, critically acclaimed, fan-favorite USA Network comedy series Monk ran from 2002-2009, with Shalhoub reprising his role as Monk for a 2020 COVID lockdown PSA. Taking place post-COVID-19, the movie finds Monk returning to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding. We soon learn that Monk has been really struggling with his mental health since the pandemic.
