We were joined on the Popternative show by Hunter Doohan who can be seen playing Tyler in Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday which premiered on November 23rd.
Directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, Riki Lindhome as Dr. Kinbott, with Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.
The supernaturally infused mystery follows Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday attempts to master her psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Tyler is a local in the town where Nevermore is, and the son of Sheriff Galpin who befriends Wednesday at the coffee shop he works at. Unlike Wednesday and her Nevermore classmates, Tyler doesn’t have any special powers, but is immediately attracted to Wednesday.
In our interview, Hunter talks about the audition process for his character, filming the series and working alongside Jenna Ortega, and what it was like filming the epic dancing scene in episode 4.
