What The Boys Season 4 Finale Means For Gen V Season 2

Spoilers Ahead
The Boys season 4 has just come to an end and what a season it was. Both Butcher and Homelander have gone completely crazy, the new Supes on The Seven have made things difficult for the Boys, and now Victoria Neuman is dead. Gen V season 2, the wildly popular spin-off series, is already filming.

After the untimely and unfortunate death of Gen V star Chance Perdomo, it was announced that his role of Andrew Anderson would not be re-cast, but rather written out of the show. This meant that there would need to be some re-writes, however seeing as there is an all-out war brewing between the Supes and the Boys – with a lot of civilian casualties along the way – killing Andre off screen is likely the path the writers are going to take.

Earlier in The Boys season 4, the Guardians of Godolkin, Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordan, made an appearance when their new film, Flipped, was announced at the V52 Expo. Their movie sounds to be like Freaky Friday, as they will switch bodies. However, this was not just a fun cameo, as fans quickly realized in the final episode of The Boys season 4. Rather, this was a way for the writers to remind viewers that these two exist – and those who have watched Gen V can testify that they are not great people.

Both Cate and Sam are loyal to Homelander, and anyone who thought otherwise was just proven wrong when they kidnapped Frenchie. Shockingly, Kimiko yells out for him as he is pulled away from her. This is a surprise because, if you remember, she has not talked at all since we have known her. The reason why was just revealed this season, as her awful past was explored in depth.

So what does The Boys season 4 finale mean for Gen V season 2?

Surely this fight between the Supes and the Boys is going to get even worse. Homelander has been planning to control the government for a while now. This is why he wanted Neuman in power, because he knew he could manipulate her. With her out of the picture, he is going to be even more upset. And what happens when an already crazy person snaps? The possibilities are endless, but they will not be good.

Another big reveal this season was that if the virus that infects Supes was to be made strong enough to kill Homelander, it would unleash a global pandemic across the world, killing everyone with V in their bloodstream. We have already been told that The Boys season 5 will be the final season, so it is likely Gen V season 2 is going to set up for what is sure to be an epic finale.

We suspect that Gen V will follow the main characters who are against Homelander – Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer, and Jordan Li – for the majority of the season. We will be caught up on what they have been doing. Cate and Sam are working with Homelander, however we are likely to still see them quite a bit. Gen V season 2 is going to pick up where The Boys season 4 left off, with a potential for a flashback episode, and is sure to explore what is happening with the Supes who do not want to stand behind Homelander, but would rather see a peaceful world.

Unfortunately, Tek Knight is no longer alive and able to reprise his role as an antagonist to the
Gen V crew. His episode of Gen V season 1 was one of the best.

With no release date yet for Gen V season 2, we are not sure how long fans will have to wait to re-enter this world. But what we do know is that these two series intertwine more than most original and spin-off series do. Everything that happened in The Boys season 4 is going to carry over into Gen V – and we cannot wait to see how it all plays out.

All 8 episodes of The Boys season 4 are streaming on Prime Video.
