CBC’s comedy-drama series is back for a second season which recently premiered on October 2nd. It was previously announced that a third season is already confirmed and production occured this past summer in Nova Scotia. The series stars Jennifer Finnigan (Tyrant, Salvation) as Lidia, the eldest of the dysfunctional Finley-Cullen family who returns home for her aunt’s funeral. “Her marriage implodes, her kids turn on her, and a surprise inheritance kicks off a family feud with her rival sister. There’s only one rational move – leave. Instead, Lidia doubles down. She’s going to stay and she’s going to make her new life work (or die trying).”

Season 2 picks up just a few days after season one’s finale, and a new character is introduced: Gale, an outlaw biker played by Canadian star Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan). Gale and Lidia will “embark on a heart-thumping but disastrous romance, and — with the very best of best intentions — become embroiled in a dangerous money-laundering scheme.

We were joined on the Popternative show by Jennifer Finnigan and Allan Hawco to discuss season 2 which Jennifer describes as one where Lidia will find herself again. They also describe this new season as “funnier and sexier” and one which brings the family back together.
