We were joined on the Popternative show by Ann Pirvu (Reign, Undercover Holiday) to discuss her role as Zoe in the Canadian dramedy series Poly is the New Monogamy. The series is created, written, directed by, starring and produced by Cat Hostick (Eli Roth’s Urban Legend, Murdoch Mysteries).
Poly is the New Monogamy premiered in July 2024 on Hollywood Suite, and Ann has been nominated for a 2025 Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Performance, Web Program or Series.
Poly is the New Monogamy follows three friends living in New York City who explore modern-day relationships, sex, contemporary dating culture and the possibility of having “more than one” in their lives. Rounding out the cast are Marianna Phung (Tokens, Y The Last Man), Bobby Del Rio (Daily Drop, Open Source) and Sasha Barry (Wynnona Earp).
In our interview, Ann reflects on being nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for the series, her preparation for her character and much more. She also goes into detail about working alongside Cat Hostick and the rest of the cast and crew.
