Disney+ today a new trailer for the second and final season of Andor, premiering on April 22. Season 2 takes place as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance.
Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound. Andor is a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction, The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film.
Andor is set five years from the events of Rogue One to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
The final season will have 12 episodes broken down into four chapters of three episodes each. The first chapter of season 2 will premiere April 22, with subsequent chapters debuting each week, exclusively on Disney+.

Season 2 stars Diego Luna (La Máquina, Narcos: Mexico), Stellan Skarsgård (Dune, Chernobyl), Genevieve O’Reilly (The Dry, The Honorable Woman), Denise Gough (Who Is Erin Carter?, Under the Banner of Heaven), Kyle Soller (Bodies, Poldark), Adria Arjona (Blink Twice, Hit Man), Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien, Moana), Faye Marsay (Adolescence, Game of Thrones), Varada Sethu (Annika, Strike Back), Elizabeth Dulau (Wicked, Maternal), with Ben Mendelsohn (The Outsider, Bloodline), and Forest Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem, The Last King of Scotland).
The series was created by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, The Bourne Identity) who also serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy (Ahsoka, The Mandalorian), Sanne Wohlenberg (Black Mirror, Vikings), Diego Luna, Luke Hull (Chernobyl, Howards End), and John Gilroy (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Nightcrawler).
Tony Gilroy wrote the first three episodes, with Beau Willimon (Mary Queen of Scots, House of Cards) writing episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy (Velvet Buzzsaw, Nightcrawler) penning episodes 7-9 and Tom Bissell (The Disaster Artist, Salt and Fire) wrote episodes 10-12. The directors for the series are Ariel Kleiman (Top of the Lake, The Resort) (Eps. 1-6), Janus Metz (Borg vs. McEnroe, Armadillo) (Eps. 7-9), and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Narcos: Mexico, Outer Range) (Eps. 10-12).
