5 Major Moments From The Titan’s Curse That Must Be In Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3

While every Rick Riordan fan is excited to see Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 on Disney+, the acclaimed author made a surprising announcement. On Bluesky, Riordan said that the writers’ room for Season 3 has already been assembled ahead of the show’s renewal. Furthermore, Season 3 has been officially announced ahead of Season 2’s premiere!

Percy Jackson’s first season was celebrated by both its fans and its critics thanks to its faithfulness to Riordan’s original novel. Even though it had new elements, like Grover’s talk with Ares and flashbacks to Poseidon and Sally, Percy’s mother, Season 1 retained the core elements that made The Lightning Thief special. With Seasons 2 and 3 on the way, Percy Jackson fans are looking forward to what’s in store for the Celestial Trio.

As such, here are the top 5 major moments from The Titan’s Curse that need to be included to satiate every fan’s need.

Spoilers ahead for Percy Jackson and the Olympians!

The Percabeth Moments (Before and After Atlas’ Defeat)

While this section contains more than one moment, the relationship between Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase really starts to blossom in this book. One moment from The Titan’s Curse sees Percy reveling in sadness after Annabeth is taken hostage once they take down the Manticore. The second sees Percy and Annabeth sharing a slow dance both before (in middle school) and after (in Olympus) they take down Atlas.

Both of these “Percabeth” moments are extremely integral as it begins to establish those emotions Percy and Annabeth share.  Though The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters had cute moments between the two, they only hinted at what was to come. These two moments truly begin to show that connection that ties Percy and Annabeth together.

Percy Meets Rachel Elizabeth Dare at Hoover Dam

One important character that’s also introduced here is Rachel Elizabeth Dare, who’s a peculiar case in The Titan’s Curse. During this moment, Percy incidentally mistakes her for an undead threat until he discovers that she could see his sword, Riptide. While they both stay confused for a minute, Rachel saves Percy with a distraction as he makes his escape.

While the appearance of Rachel in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 could be a cameo, her role in the later books holds great importance. Moving forward, her occasional encounters with Percy Jackson will see Rachel learning about the mystical world of Greek mythology from the son of Poseidon and even form a little love triangle between him and Annabeth Chase. More importantly, Rachel taking up the role of Camp Half-Blood’s oracle means that she has greater importance in the war with Kronos.

Bianca di Angelo Saves Nico, Percy, and Everyone From the Talos

What will be a reverberating event throughout the rest of Percy Jackson and the Olympians would be the death of Bianca di Angelo. Here, Percy Jackson, Nico di Angelo, and the rest of the demigodly team venture through the Junkyard of the Gods as a step towards saving Artemis. However, an automated Talos statue attacks the group due to Bianca taking a small figurine for Nico. As such, Bianca bestows it upon herself to take down the Talos, which kills her in the process.

The death of Bianca in The Titan’s Curse holds great weight for Nico since, at this point, Nico isn’t the experienced fighter he is later on. Nico’s adolescence makes him more emotional and Bianca’s demise causes him to unknowingly reveal his connection to Hades for the first time. Furthermore, this event also causes him to isolate himself from Percy and everyone else, also revealing his Fatal Flaw of holding grudges.

Percy Takes Annabeth’s Place in Holding Up the Sky

The intense climax of The Titan’s Curse that sees the legendary demigods switching who carries the sky is definitely a must for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3. Luke initially tricks Annabeth into holding up the sky when she gets captured at first. However, when the rest of the demigods finally arrive, Percy decides to take Annabeth’s place in the lead-up to a heartbreaking moment. When Thalia bests Luke, Annabeth tries to reason with her to save him instead, but it leads to Luke falling off the cliff.

Though Luke doesn’t die in this particular moment, this moment still provides so much depth to the demigods. Percy shows his Fatal Flaw in dedicating himself to protecting Annabeth, Thalia’s emotions overtake her rationality when it comes to sacrificing Luke for the greater good, and the Broken Trio, consisting of Annabeth, Thalia, and Luke, getting that first ultimatum. Fans wouldn’t have a problem if this moment gets stretched out to ensure the emotional and thematic ideas of friendship really resonate with them!

Zoë Nightshade’s Sacrifice at Mount Tamalpais

One of the more harrowing moments in The Titan’s Curse comes when one of Artemis’ hunters, Zoë Nightshade, suffers during the battle with Atlas. Once the demigods reach Mount Tamalpais, Percy decides to take Artemis’ place as she and Zoë fend off Atlas. However, after many critical blows to Zoë, the Hunter forgave Thalia and Percy for her own judgements as Artemis promised to make her into a constellation to honor her.

Throughout this book, Zoë Nightshade’s arc makes her a really compelling character to follow. Initially, as a Hunter of Artemis, Zoë is very reluctant to continue bringing Percy Jackson due to her previous experience with other heroes like Hercules. In fact, Percy’s sword, Riptide, was previously owned by Hercules when Zoë gave it to him. However, throughout the story, as Zoë and Percy’s situationship grew into a genuine friendship, this helped make Zoë someone you could root for. For many fans, Zoë’s demise is a real tearjerker and Season 3 would be “dam’d” without it.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is now in development. Season 2 will release in December 2025.
