Our first digital cover for Popternative Magazine for September 2025 features actor Isaac Arellanes who returns as Isaac Garcia in Season 2 of the hit Netflix drama series, My Life with the Walter Boys, which premiered on August 28.

The series first launched in December 2023 and was very quickly renewed for a second season after reaching #1 on the Global English Top 10 TV List and the Top 10 in 88 countries. Ahead of its second season debut, Netflix renewed the series for a third season. Season 1 ended on a big cliffhanger and the second season sees Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) return to Colorado to live with the Walters again.

Isaac tells us about returning to set for the second season, some of the new experiences his character encounters, including joining the football team, what he hopes to see play out in the upcoming third season, and more.

Did you have to practice or train for the football scenes in Season 2?

Isaac: I definitely had some practice for the football scenes. I needed to learn the basics so far as the fundamentals that go along with being a quarterback. I became really cool with some of the football players I worked with, they played for the Calgary Colts. I really appreciated them helping me out. We had our own private sessions where we just picked a day and we went out and threw the ball around and did some drills. It was really great. I enjoyed that a lot, they were all just so kind to me and patient and understanding as I was learning.

Aside from Isaac, which character(s) in Season 2 do you think had a lot of growth?

Isaac: I don’t know if he’s changed very much but I have really liked the new things I’ve seen with Danny and his relationship with Erin. We got a chance to see how he dealt with Cole finding out, and we even got a glimpse into his romantic side, he’s very kind. He has such an innocent energy and it’s really fun to watch. The relationship between Danny and Erin is a big change of pace from the stressful love triangle and it’s cool to watch.

We know a third season of My Life with the Walter Boys is on the way. What are you hoping to see from Isaac?

Isaac: My hopes for Isaac in Season 3 is for more involvement in some of the drama. I’d like to see him present during some of the predicaments where he is able to help and show his protective brother side. I enjoyed him being at the functions like the bonfire in Season 1, I think his character adds a different element so I’m hopeful for more of those scenes. I guess I’d really like to see his storyline developed a little more in some capacity. I love filming scenes with Myles [who plays Lee] and showing a different brother dynamic in the home as well.

How would you describe Isaac in Season 2 compared to Season 1?

Isaac: I feel like Isaac is pretty similar in Season 2 as he was in the first one. Obviously, the main difference is that he’s on the football team now. That status can definitely go to his head and can kind of pump up his ego, but it also built a bit of a relationship with Cole. That is actually something I’m hoping we’ll see more of in the upcoming season, just like an improvement with their relationship beyond football, that would be really nice to see.

What is it like being on set with such a large ensemble cast?

Isaac: Working with a huge cast has been such a great time, just getting to know everybody and creating this family atmosphere. We are all really great friends, so that plays a big part with the chemistry as a whole. There have been several scenes where that dynamic comes through even in the background, sometimes there’s funny stuff that naturally pushes into the scenes because of it. It takes a bit of work on set to capture all of those things, particularly in some of the big breakfast scenes, but at the end of the day, it’s fun and interesting to watch. There’s always so much going on and so many pieces to pull from so it’s in constant motion. I truly enjoy being on set with all of the family members and really just the entire cast in general, it’s such a pleasure to be a part of an ensemble like that.
