We were joined back on the Popternative show by Mika Abdalla (Snack Shack, Sex Appeal) to discuss the upcoming drama series Off Campus, premiering May 13 on Prime Video. Based on the bestselling book series by Elle Kennedy, Off Campus centers on an elite college hockey team and the women connected to them as they navigate relationships, personal growth, and self-discovery. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
The cast also includes Ella Bright (The Crown, Malory Towers) as Hannah Wells, Belmont Cameli (Until Dawn, Along for the Ride) as Garrett Graham, Antonio Cipriano (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Harlan Coben’s Shelter) as John Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks (The Pitt, Thanksgiving) as John Tucker, Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy, Heartbreak High) as Justin, Stephen Kalyn (Gen V, Motorheads) as Dean Di Laurentis, Steve Howey (High Potential, Shameless) as Phil Graham, and Khobe Clarke (Firefly Lane, Cruel Intentions) as Beau Maxwell.
Mika, who plays Allie Hayes, notes this was her first time working on a project adapted from books for the screen: “I’ve never done a book-to-script-to-screen type [project], so it was really nice to have that extra source material to reference in the prep. And it was also interesting to see how the writers adapted the book to a screenplay because that’s something I’ve always been interested in doing.”

On what she hopes audiences take away from the series, Mika says: “I think season one has a really great mix of joy, fun and funny moments. But [it also] has a lot of heart; we cover a lot of serious and important topics, and I think sometimes that joy and that levity can help open you up to to vulnerability about these more serious things. So, I hope that people enjoy what they watch, but I also hope that they feel like they can identify with us. We’re such a big cast where it’s a huge ensemble, each character is so different and unique. I think there’s a lot of opportunities for viewers to to identify with one of us. I hope that people are able to laugh and enjoy the show, but also feel seen.”
