Season 2 of the police drama series The Responder premiered last week with the first 2 episodes on BritBox where Martin Freeman (Breeders, Sherlock) returns as first responder Chris Carson picking up six months after season 1 left off. Season 1 followed Chris as he struggled to save his marriage and mental health while working night shifts on the beat in Liverpool.
Season 2 also stars Adelayo Adedayo (Timewasters, Some Girls), MyAnna Buring (The Witcher, The Descent), Ian Hart (The Last Kingdom, Tin Star), Josh Finan (The Gentleman, Baby Reindeer), Emily Fairn (Mary & George, Cobra), Warren Brown (Luther, Strike Back), Faye McKeever (Time, A Confession), Philip Shaun McGuinness (The Alienist, G’wed), Mark Womack (Emmerdale Farm, Good Cop), Amaka Okafor (The Sandman, Bodies), Adam Nagaitis (The Terror, Red Rose), and Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth, Tin Star).

The synopsis for season 2 of The Responder reads, “Carson is busy trying to better himself as a police officer and as a father to his daughter, Tilly (Romi Hyland-Rylands). However, the recurrent trauma of the night officer beat continues. And, in an effort to finally free himself, he seeks a day job. Meanwhile, having been dragged into the mud by her partner, Rachel (Adelayo Adedayo) is attempting to rebuild her life. She begins the season furious with Chris, but, after going on to work with a sequence of ‘normal’ coppers, finds that she has more in common with her former partner than she’s perhaps willing to admit.”
