We had the chance to speak with Canadian ice hockey player MacKenzie Weegar on the Popternative show. From Ottawa, Ontario, Weegar is currently a defenseman for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. In the interview, we talk about his growth as a player, this upcoming NHL season, and tons more.
Florida Panthers
Prior to making it to the NHL, Mackenzie spent valuable time in the minor leagues to develop his game he says, “For any player listening to this, just be patient down there; take your time” and added, “When you get your opportunity, make the most of it.” His style of play epitomizes the modern prototypical defenseman with his ability to skate, defend, and produce offensively. When the opportunity came, he knew his role “I kind of just adapted to see where I saw fit, where I could find myself making the team.”
We wanted to get to know more about Mackenzie’s personality and he listed Ted Lasso as one of his favorite shows right now and he also mentioned that he is an avid gamer.
