What’s it been like playing Pam in season one of Shoresy compared to season five?
Michala: I was very nervous in season one, I didn’t know the dynamic of the show, I didn’t know the tone of the show yet because it was so new and completely fresh. I feel just so much more comfortable as Pam in the show now. I can almost do the show with my eyes closed, just because I’m so used to the tone of it. I know what Jared [Keeso] is looking for, just because I’ve been on the show for so long that it’s comfy, it’s cozy, and I just go and have fun. I try to be as prepared as I can so that when and I’m ready to go I’m just having fun.
Without any heavy spoilers, what did you enjoy most about season five?
Michala: Without giving too much away, I will say that Hitch and my Pam’s relationship gets really solidified and strong.
What are some of the on-set conversations with Jared Keeso like when it comes to your character and certain scenes?
Michala: Jared is very good at bouncing off ideas, but he also knows what he wants. I think when you watch Letterkenny or Shoresy, there’s a very specific Jared tone that’s very uniquely him. And I know that that needs to always be in play, but what I appreciate about Jared is that if he has a thought or maybe an idea for Pam, I really love that he will reach out and ask me what I think.
And as soon as somebody asks me what I think, I like to pull from my past and present. When he does ask, I offer some suggestions of my past experiences and my thoughts on the character that I think will really resonate, and how also fans see me as well.

What would you say you enjoy the most about storytelling?
Michala: Getting into the nitty-gritty. Human beings are flawed, and I don’t want to see anything perfect on screen. We’re in an age right now with filters, AI, there’s a lot of artificial content, a lot of scripts written by AI, and I’m so interested in what it means to be a true human being with flaws and all. I think what I would love my future projects to look like, and if I could manifest something for myself, I want the grit, I want the mess. I think storytelling is so important in a world that’s so online.

What are some learning experiences from Shoresy, in general—from season one to five—while playing Pam that you’ll carry into future roles and creative journeys?
Michala: I think always be prepared as best you can, and to find a balance of work and play. If there is one thing I have learned from being on Shorsey, it’s that It’s important to go out and talk to people, and know everyone’s names and make friends. Also, it’s important to remember who you are, where you are, and what you’re there to do.
