Since premiering on Netflix in January 2026, Finding Her Edge has quickly become a fan-favorite young adult sports romance drama, taking viewers inside the world of elite figure skating and ice dancing. Based on Jennifer Iacopelli’s popular novel, the series follows the Russo sisters as they navigate family, ambition, romance, and rivalry, while Adriana Russo (Madelyn Keys) finds herself caught between her new skating partner, Brayden (Cale Ambrozic), and her first love, Freddie (Olly Atkins).

After debuting at No. 4 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list with 5.5 million views in its first week and reaching the Top 10 in 81 countries, the series was renewed for Season 2 less than a month after its premiere. Now, with production underway in Southern Ontario, the cast is back on the ice following the dramatic Season 1 finale.

For our September 2026 Digital Cover, Popternative spoke exclusively with Madelyn Keys, Cale Ambrozic, Olly Atkins, Alexandra Beaton, Alice Malakhov, and Millie Davis about what fans can expect from Season 2, returning to the world of Finding Her Edge, and what’s next for their characters.

Madelyn Keys Teases Adriana’s Season 2 Journey

With new partnerships comes a new set of pressures, emotions, and complicated dynamics for Adriana, and Madelyn Keys says fans can expect her character to make some choices of her own in Season 2.

Madelyn: Adriana is going on her own journey. She’s in a new environment, and she’s experiencing all of the feelings from last season with a new, heightened level of pressure. I think she’s going to make some choices that are going to make fans very happy and very angry at times.

What are you most excited for fans to see in the new season?

Madelyn: I think the fans are really going to enjoy, of course, the love triangle and the themes that have continued throughout the whole series. But I think it’s really interesting to be spending more time at Voltage this year. You almost get the university experience for some of these characters, and I think it’s really nice to see these characters age up alongside the fans.

How has your preparation for Season 2 been compared to Season 1?

Madelyn: Well, the truth is, this was the biggest project that I had ever booked, and so my preparation going into season one was make sure I don’t mess this up for all the people who took a chance on me to give me this role. And I think this year, my goal [for season two] was to work just as hard, but take it a little less seriously in the sense that I could allow myself to enjoy the actual process more and hopefully be a little more free with the choices that I’m making and just enjoy my day to day more.

Olly Atkins and Cale Ambrozic on Freddie, Brayden and Season 2

For Freddie and Brayden, Season 2 brings plenty of change. While Olly Atkins says Freddie is embarking on a journey of personal growth, Brayden faces twists that Cale Ambrozic says fans may not see coming.

What can viewers expect from Freddie and Brayden in Season 2?

Olly: You can expect a lot from Freddie in season two. He goes on quite an odyssey. There’s a lot of change, there’s a lot of personal growth that happens. A discovery of self.

Cale: Drama, a lot of twists and turns. He definitely goes through a transformation that people may or may not expect.

How was the training and preparation for Season 2 compared to Season 1? Was it a different experience?

Olly: It was definitely more intense. We had a longer period of skating training and dance rehearsal, with some incredible high-level coaches and instructors. So it’s definitely a step up from season one, although that was intense too.

Cale: I think we knew what to expect this year, and I think everyone arrived more prepared and understood what we needed to accomplish. And as Olly said, we had a longer period and really great coaches and Olympic skaters.

What are you most excited for fans to see in Season 2?

Olly: I think they’re going to be really excited with the intensity of season two. It starts immediately, it comes on fast, and doesn’t stop for eight episodes. So, they have a lot in store.

Cale: And I think the new characters that are introduced in season two are some that people will really, really enjoy, or maybe hate. You never know. So, I’m excited for people to meet all the new cast.

Olly: Yeah, there’s some really great talent joining this new season.

The show quickly found an audience after its debut. Why do you think Finding Her Edge connected with viewers so strongly?

Ollie: I think all the characters are really relatable, and there’s a kernel of truth to every one of them. I think these questions of growth, self-identity, and purpose are universal, and I think it connected with many people.

Cale: Yeah, I think people love the dancing and relationships aspect. People really love the drama. I think it’s the combination of the drama and love.

Alexandra Beaton on Elise’s New Chapter

While Elise has often been the strong, fiercely independent eldest Russo sister, Season 2 finds her navigating a number of major changes. Alexandra Beaton teases a season that will explore a different side of her character, while putting an even greater focus on her bond with her sisters and family.

Alexandra: Elise is going through it in an entirely different way in season two. She has a new love interest. She is really thinking about becoming a coach, she’s missing skating. She has a lot going on right now, but she’s really close with her sisters. She’s really close with her family, and that plays a big impact on who she is this season. And I am just so excited and so thankful for everyone who watched and who gave us the opportunity to get to do it again.

Did your preparation for Season 2 look different this time around?

Alexandra: Much different. We had much more time to skate. I feel a lot more confident on the ice. I did a lot more research into delayed grief and how coming out of that looks for my specific character in regards to her relationship with her mother. Also, my sisters and I are so close. We got close last season, and that will really inform the feeling of closeness as we go into season two.

What are you looking forward for the fans to see in Season 2?

Alexandra: I think they’re going to see a different side of Elise. She is integrated with her sisters and her family again in a much bigger way, and that’s been such a pleasure to play. As mentioned, she does have a love interest, one that she is actually serious about and not going to cheat on at every second turn. So I think that will be really exciting. And then, you know, will she get back on the ice? Won’t she get back on the ice? It’s a big question.

Why do you think audiences became so instantly invested in Finding Her Edge?

Alexandra: Well, Braydriana [Brayden and Adriana] I think would be the first reason and the ending of the show. Our writers did such an amazing job with that. And then I hope, selfishly, that the family dynamic and the sister dynamic also really drew people in as well. It’s one of my favorite parts of the show when I watch it.

Season 2 of Finding Her Edge in Three Words

How would you describe Season 2 of Finding Her Edge in three words?

Madelyn Keys: Heightened. Heartfelt. Dramatic.

Alexandra Beaton: All. The. Drama.

Millie Davis: Twisting. Dramatic. Heartwarming.

Alice Malakhov: Dynamic. Icy. Slippery.

Olly Atkins: Sexy. Fast. Thrilling.

Cale Ambrozic: Unpredictable. Intense. Dramatic.

Riley Embraces Her Fiercer Side in Finding Her Edge Season 2

After the events of Season 1, Riley is heading into Season 2 with a new edge and a more competitive spirit. Millie Davis teases a different side of Riley this season.

How does Riley evolve in Season 2, and what can fans expect from her?

Millie: You can definitely expect some attitude based on how the end of season one was. She has a bit of edge to her, maybe a little bit of a revenge evil era. Nothing too crazy, of course, because she’s a nice girl. But, I think you can expect a bit of a different side of her. Definitely a more competitive, fierce side.

What has the preparation been like for getting back on the ice for Season 2?

Millie: I’d say it’s even more intense than it was for season one. We all have a lot more skating to do this season, a lot more routines, which is going to be really fun. I think that a lot of the viewers loved the skating aspect of it, so they’ve really amped that up. It’s definitely taken some time to get used to being back on the ice and dancing and skating.

What do you think made the show so popular that audiences wanted to binge-watch it and immediately ask for more?

Millie: I think that the main love triangle is definitely a big reason why the show did so well. All three of them did such an amazing job with the drama, and I think it just really made people want to click to watch the next episode. I also think there were a lot of good cliffhangers and plot twists to the episodes that made it really easy to want to continue watching. I think the show is just really well done and really hits the drama on the nose.

Maria Is Finding Herself in Season 2

As the youngest Russo sister, Maria is finding her own path after choosing to step away from competitive skating at the end of Season 1. With new priorities and challenges ahead, Alice Malakhov says fans will see Maria continue to grow and discover who she is beyond the rink.

Alice: Maria is growing up, she’s finding herself more, and so you can expect to see a typical teenager finding herself. There’s conflict, there’s drama, but in the end, there’s always a lot of love to her character, but you can expect some dynamic character development. Her priorities are just a little bit different. So instead of her priorities being winning competitions and getting to practice, she just has others [to focus on].

What are you most excited for people to see when they tune into Season 2?

Alice: I think similarly to season one, I’m very excited for people to see the bonds with the different characters, like the sisters with their dad, and how Maria has grown, because she’s the youngest on the show. So, I think a lot of teen viewers can relate to her growing up and changing and finding herself, and sometimes that kind of defies the norms.

What do you think made audiences connect with Finding Her Edge so quickly?

Alice: I think that people probably, as I did, fell in love with the characters and the relationships between the characters. Personally, one of my favorite things is the sister bond, and I think that it’s nice to see bonds like that between characters. I mean, of course, there’s the drama, the love triangles, but I think that the family relationships and the friendships are also a very big part of why it was such a hit because they feel so genuine because we are actually very close and very good friends.
