For our latest digital feature, we caught up with content creator and actor Joce Bedard to talk about how her passion for entertainment sparked the launch of her YouTube channel. What began as a creative outlet has grown into a thriving platform with over 195,000 subscribers, where she keeps audiences coming back for her daily mix of lifestyle moments and comedic content.

She also talks about wanting to make people laugh, how her content evolved from reaction videos to storytelling, and how she approaches YouTube as both a creative outlet and a business. Joce then dives into the launch of her newest channel, “Life With Joce,” to share more of her personal journey, balancing acting with content creation, exploring music behind the scenes, and the importance of staying authentic as a creator.

What made you want to create your own YouTube channel?

Joce: From a young age, I always knew I would work in the entertainment industry, but as a performer, a lot of things are out of your control. Youtube was a platform where I could be in control and entertain in whatever way I wanted. It felt like an opportunity where I could build my own dream job if I worked hard enough. When the acting industry shut down in 2020 [because of COVID-19], social media was a great creative outlet for me. I could create videos, both long form and short form, that brought me a lot of happiness. But also that connected me to people around the world. I couldn’t audition or be on set in front of a camera. So I created my own set and got in front of my own camera.

What was your original mindset for the type of content you wanted to create?

Joce: My first thought was that I wanted to make people laugh. That was so important to me. I grew up watching other creators and turned to their videos on my best days, but also my worst days. But I also knew that I wanted this to be a full time job so I treated it like a full time job. I wanted to build a real business and with that comes strategy. I wanted to create content that I enjoyed doing but also content that I knew people were watching.

Joce: Reaction videos were a big hit at the time. I loved doing them because it felt like I was in an improv class. I was reacting live to something and even I didn’t know how I was going to react. There was something performative about it as well since people were watching. I transitioned into storytelling videos along the way because I loved the conversations they started. I quickly realized how much it brings a comment section together and how relatable the emotions/experiences are for everyone. I’m always learning and adjusting as I go. The platform is constantly changing.

Tell us about your new YouTube channel, “Life With Joce” and the reason for creating it.

Joce: I want to build an empire. People have followed my main channel for the stories I read from Reddit or submissions, but I want to start telling my own stories. So I created another channel called “Life With Joce”. I want to connect with people on a different level and really show them who I am and more of my personal life. They don’t have to just connect with a story, they can connect with me. It’s a new page for me to show my life journey, my struggles, my wins, my passions, my art. I want people to grow with me and to feel a part of my journey. Because they are. And I hope it inspires people to chase their own dreams along the way.

You also act; do you think acting and content creation work in tandem?

Joce: I think they can, but I also think they can work on their own. Content creation can be a great creative outlet, especially when you’re not booking acting roles. It’s also a way to share your art with the world, and it’s free. But I also think you can create content that’s unrelated to acting and keep your acting journey for yourself. The journey of an actor is very vulnerable, and social media can create a lot of noise and distractions.

Joce: You’d be surprised how many casting calls ask if the actor has a social media audience. Some castings care about that and some don’t. Social media holds a lot of power these days. Some projects want to hire actors with a following because it would automatically bring an audience with them. But that doesn’t mean that’s the only reason you’re getting the job. I think every actor and content creator should do what works best for them on their journey, because it’s not an easy one, and everyone’s is different.

What exciting things should we be on the lookout for next?

Joce: My audience doesn’t even know this yet but I’ve been working behind the scenes on sharing a totally different side of me. I started taking singing lessons in private in 2023 and I only shared that news online 2 years later in October 2025. Since then, I’ve been writing my own music and working on recording some songs and covers. It’s been such a new and exciting way to express myself and share different parts of my life. I’m looking forward to putting it out there for everyone to hopefully connect with, when I’m ready.

What is the best advice you can share about content creation?

Joce: I fully believe the only way to have a long and successful career is by being your authentic self and not losing that along the way. These platforms are filled with a lot of creators who are trying to do the same thing. The one thing that makes your content different is YOU. You can have the same script, the same edit, the same font, as thousands of other people. The one thing that they will never have is that they are not you. You bring something different by simply being yourself. Being yourself is a superpower, use it.
