We caught up with 2026 Canadian Choice Award winner and Toronto-based artist Carina, who describes her sound as “pink pop music,” a vibrant blend of feel-good energy, catchy melodies, and style that carries through her aesthetic and live performances. Known for consistently dropping new singles, her latest release, “Lucky Charm,” is all about positivity and showing up as someone others can count on for good vibes.
Carina is bringing that same uplifting energy to the stage on March 29th at The Elmocambo in Toronto, where she will perform among a multi-genre lineup featuring pop, hip-hop, and R&B. Fans can also expect exclusive merch and fun extras like goodie bags and can get $5 off their tickets by using the code “CARINA” (tickets can be purchased here).
What do you enjoy the most about recording your tracks?
Carina: Adding all of the harmonies and adlibs. I think that layered vocals and alternate melodies can definitely add a lot to a song!
How do you come up with the lyrics and instrumental ideas for your songs?
Carina: The lyrics in my music often tell stories of things I have been through myself, or an experience someone close to me has had. I feel that this is what helps make my music relatable to an audience. When it comes to the instrumental ideas, I often collaborate with a producer who I feel can help bring my pop vision to life! I enjoy making music people can dance to, and sharing art that really makes people feel something.

How would you describe the style of your music?
Carina: I would describe my sound as dance pop with some r&b/funk. My sound is similar to the likeness of Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Dua Lipa. I like to put a spin on how I, and others, can refer to my music. I call it pink pop music!

When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?
Carina: When people listen to my music I would hope that they take away the message that they are not alone. We all go through similar experiences, and music is there to support us in that. With intricate costuming and branding inspired by drag artists, I want to create a safe space for everyone to have a voice and feel confident in their own skin (even if sometimes that skin is painted pink!).
