What can you tell us about Screaming?

Victoria Alex (VA): Screaming is a song I co-wrote with my producer, about being confused and dealing with the ups and downs of being young. It’s about not feeling like you’re being heard and wanting to find a place in the world.

How excited are you to be releasing new music?

VA: I honestly have never been more excited! The new songs I’m working on are a complete reflection of me in every way. I’m finally at a place where I’m showing my true artistry and speaking my truth.

When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?

VA: I hope they just connect to the music in their own interpretation of the song and in a way that is meaningful to them in their lives.  I hope the people who listen, just allow the song to genuinely take them to a different place.

How would you describe the sound of your music?

VA: I would describe the sound of my music influenced by the 80’s culture.  A time when listening to music made you feel, happy, free and alive.  It’s music with no judgments.

Who would you say are some of your musical influences?

VA: I would say The Offspring, U2, Wings, The Eagles, Tame Impala, Lorde, Fleetwood Mac and Heart.  I have my parents to thank for that, since I listened to some of these bands growing up.

Did you always know that music was something you wanted to pursue?

VA: I remember at 8 years old, realizing that music just hit me differently than anything else I’ve known.  There was something about it, that I never wanted to leave. Music has always been a part of me; and it always will.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

VA: Surround yourself with a great team, who will support and challenge you.  They should be able to tell you what you need to hear, not everything you’d like to hear.  That’s how you grow as an artist and a person.  Stay true to yourself and your musical artistry.
