We chatted with TikTok influencer Kylie Muse about her new single “all in my head” available now on all streaming platforms. Only being in the music industry since last year (2021), she’s already obtained hundreds of thousands of streams with just 5 singles.

We asked her all about the new single, her creative process and lots more. Check out what Kylie Muse had to say below.

What can you tell us about your new track “all in my head”?

Kylie Muse (KM): “all in my head” is a very emotional track. It captures a lot of feelings that are commonly thought but not commonly said and expressed. It’s all about feeling like you cared too much about someone who didn’t care the same way about you. I think situationships are a relatable topic and that’s why this song was created; to express the pain of what caring too much feels like.

When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?

KM: When people listen to my music, my number one hope is that they get comfort and feel understood and not alone. Music is a beautiful thing because it has the effect that can make people feel heard and not alone. I hope that when people listen to this song they feel comfort. I know what music has done for me and if I can give that same feeling to my listeners, I will be extremely happy.

Did you always know that music was something you wanted to pursue?

KM: I always knew music was going to be my whole life’s journey. I don’t really know how to do anything else. No matter what it is I am doing, it some how gets brought back to music; whether it’s waking up at 4am because I dreamed up a cool melody while sleeping, or writing high school essays that always would magically end up rhyming. It seems like everything I do is used in my music. My day to day life is leading me to my next song. It’s the most honest and real way for me to communicate with others and myself. Ever since I was a little girl, I was obsessively fascinated with music and only continue to grow a stronger love for it.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

KM: I would say to aspiring musicians such as myself to believe in yourself and match that self belief with hard work. I would say to not get distracted by what other people are telling you that you should do. Stay true to what it is you know you do best. I think it is really easy for people’s visions to get tainted by the outside world because people think that they know what is best but the truth is you know what’s best and you know what you do best and the best thing you can do for yourself and your career is stick to that. Of course try new things and continue to grow. But don’t get pulled into doing things that don’t feel right in your heart.

What is your favorite song to perform live?

KM: “alter ego” is my favorite song to perform live. I don’t perform live very often, but for some reason when I’m singing “alter ego” I feel like I am “that girl” on stage. It gives me a different type of confidence that I have never had before.

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?

KM: The best way to describe my creative process while writing is sporadic. It kind of just happens. It usually starts out with one line that I love and I end up creating a whole song based off of that one line. Or I will have a great concept that is emotional where I can write a whole song in 30 minutes. Writing a song has never felt like work for me. I also don’t push myself to write when I am feeling unmotivated or uninspired. Music is not some thing that I can force. if it is meant to be heard then I trust that I will create it when I am meant to.

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?

KM: I am a big Russ fan and have read his book and watched a lot of his interviews. I’ve learned a lot of good pieces of advice, especially when it comes to the pursuit of a music career as an independent artist. The best advice I’ve learned has been “don’t be realistic”. The way I look at this is being realistic only brings you realistic things. And my dreams are far from realistic, which means in order to achieve what I am going to achieve, I have to think outside of the box, get creative, and work hard.
