We had the chance to chat with nonbinary artist PLEXXAGLASS. Their newest track “LILITH” was recently released and is turning heads.
Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park produced the track and actually took it to Twitch (where he has 135k loyal followers) to livestream the process behind the production of “LILITH.”
Here’s what PLEXXAGLASS had to say.
How excited are you to release this new single?
Super stoked! Initial writing for LILITH happened two years ago, so it feels great to get this baby out into the world.
What was it like working with Mike Shinoda?
Mike is such an amazing artist. I absolutely loved working with him on this track. He’s so intuitive and versatile— he doesn’t seem to have any limits to what genres he’s capable of working within.
What do you think of all the genre bending happening in music now?
Well, as a contributor to some of that bending, I’m a huge fan. I think combining genres is a great way to diversify your listeners.
Who are some of your influences music wise?
Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine) is huge for me… Kate Bush is kind of the mother of Dark Pop, in my opinion, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention her. Bon Iver, Bishop Briggs, Celeste, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent.
When people listen to PLEXXAGLASS, what are you hoping they get out of it?
Most of my listeners, my Aliens, are people who have felt that they don’t quite belong. They’re neurodivergent, they’re minorities… I’m hoping my Aliens find comfort in my music. I’m hoping they feel less alone, that my music gives them a sense of community and home.
