We caught up with British pop artist Mimi Webb who recently released her debut EP, Seven Shades of Heartbreak, via Epic Records. The seven-track EP displays her show-stopping vocals, eloquent songwriting, and undeniable energy. It boasts her international hits, “Good Without“, “Dumb Love” and “24/5” which has reached 250 million streams and counting.

“Good Without” and “Dumb Love” simultaneously occupied spots in the Top 15 on the UK Singles Chart, which cemented Mimi Webb as “the first UK female artist, since Dua Lipa in 2017, to land two singles in the UK Top 15 before the release of her debut album.”

We asked Mimi about the new EP, her musical influences and more. Check out what she had to say below.

What can you tell us about your debut EP?

Mimi Webb (MW): My EP is all about the Seven Shades of Heartbreak and going through the process of it. It’s all about having a good day and a bad day and realizing you can get through it.

How excited are you to be releasing new music?

MW: I’m so excited to get new music out. I’ve been working so long on it now and I’m so excited to finally let it out.

When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?

MW: I’m hoping people get to see the honesty in my music and the storytelling behind the lyrics.

How would you describe the sound of your music?

MW: It’s a mix between emotional ballade and pop music. I love bringing those two worlds together.

Who would you say are some of your musical influences?

MW: I admire so many musicians from very different styles but I would say Adele, Dua Lipa, Emily Sandé and Amy Winehouse. They are such inspirational women.

Did you always know that music was something you wanted to  pursue?

MW: From a really young age I knew music was always going to be my thing. I used to always love singing, but as soon as I started playing the piano, music just felt right.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

MW: My advice is to believe in yourself, feel confident and never compare yourself to anyone else.

What is your favorite song to perform live?

MW: “House on Fire.” It’s so fun and it gets the crowd so excited!
