We chatted with artist SRY about his newest single “Crybaby” featuring RILEY and Josh Landry. SRY’s music is described as “bridging the gap between modern pop music and urban trap music.” We ask SRY about his creative process, musical advice and more. Check it out below.

How excited are you to release new music?

SO excited. I’ve been waiting so long to show everyone these songs!

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?

It changes so much depending on each song. But I ALWAYS start with an instrumental first.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Build your reputation on being honest and enjoyable to work with. Work hard and stay humble. No matter how big your career gets, never lose your love for music. If it starts feeling too much like a job, take a step back. Work hard, but listen to your body and mind.

What is your favorite song to perform live?

My favorite song to play live is a toss up between an unreleased song called “Miss Insecurities” or “Coffin.”

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?

I think the best advice I’ve been given was to keep my circle small. Things get a little crazy in this music world, so having a team of people you trust is CRUCIAL.

Which musician would you like to collaborate with in the future?

It will forever be a goal to make a song with sir Post Malone. In my opinion, he’s the greatest artist making music today. I have to say though, I’d want to make some southern rock stuff with him!
