Every time a new Fast & Furious movie comes out, equally important is the soundtrack that comes with it. When curating the soundtrack, the hottest names in the music industry are often recruited to create a masterpiece. Over the years, the Fast & Furious franchise has given audiences iconic songs such as “See You Again” by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa, “Tokyo Drift” by the Teriyaki Boyz, “Danze Kuduro” by Don Omar and many more. Here at Popternative, we want to share some of the songs from the new F9: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack that stood out to us.

“Fast Lane” by Don Tolliver, Lil Durk & Latto
The song opens with a brass section fanfare, giving it a grandiose sound. The hard hitting 808 drums combined with Don Tolliver’s singing makes it one of those perfect songs you would blast in your car. It heavily resembles a lot of the bangers that can be found in the last few Fast & Furious soundtracks.

“Lane Switcha” by Pop Smoke, A$AP Rocky, Skepta, Juicy J & Project Pat
It’s nice to see the late great Pop Smoke make it on the album. His deep raspy voice on this synthy trap beat will hype up listeners and viewers. On the catchy chorus is trap pioneer Juicy J who does what he does best.

“Furiosa” by Anitta
It wouldn’t be a Fast & Furious soundtrack if it didn’t have some Latin flavour in it. Any time Latin style guitar melodies are combined with 808 drums, it is bound to be a success.

“I Won” by Ty Dolla $ign, Jack Harlow & 24kGoldn
This is arguably the best song on the album as it has the highest potential for commercial success. Both Jack Harlow and 24kGoldn had pretty big years in 2020, so to have them together on one song is a lot of fun. And of course, Ty Dolla $ign doesn’t disappoint with his anthemic chorus.

Final Thoughts
F9: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is a solid body of work, but aside from “I Won” and maybe a couple other songs, this album really lacks those playlist staples that the Fast & Furious soundtracks have produced over the years. Hopefully as the summer progresses and the movie gains more traction I will be proved wrong.
