We had a chance to chat with 4-piece New Orleans pop punk band Neutral Snap about their upcoming new record, Tell Me How I Feel, due out on October 22, 2021. The band is made up of J.P Brown (Guitar), Joshua Latham (Vocals), Dominick Conforte (Bass) and Ray-Ray Boudreaux (Drums).

How excited are you to release this new record? 

We are unbelievably stooooooooked to release this record! We have been sitting on these songs for a long time and we are super excited to show people how we have progressed since album one.

In your opinion, why is pop punk so appealing?

We grew up listening to pop punk and when we decided to make music, it seemed like the perfect choice. Pop punk is the shit and it will never die. 

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

If we’re gonna be real with everyone, it’s the greatest job in the world; however, be prepared to work your ass off.

What is your favorite song to perform live? 

“Westin House” is the resounding band favorite – Josh also likes “Bedsweats” and would like the world to acknowledge this.

Can you describe your creative process when you’re writing new music?

It involves a lot of yelling, laying on the floor, and arguing with each other until it all *clicks*. After that, we let the magic flow through us, we put it on a plate, nibble on it, and it’s refreshing.

What has been the best advice someone has given you about music?

Don’t compare yourself to other acts you’ve seen; just focus on the art you make. Be happy creating art that you love. Take a deep breath, then get out there and rip it (I think that’s from Parks and Rec).

Which musician would you like to collaborate with in the future? 

Josh – I want to collaborate with Lawrence to get my soul pop on

Ray – I would love to make beats for A$AP Rocky.

Dan – Hot Mulligan.

JP – I’d love to make a 90’s style rap with Joey Valence; I think what he’s doing is dope.
