We recently spoke with Canadian professional ice hockey forward Zack MacEwen on the Popternative show. The Prince Edward Island native is currently a forward for the Vancouver Canucks and founder of the My Biggest Fan Foundation. In our interview (below), we talk about his hockey career, the NHL, starting his own charity, and much more.

My Biggest Fan Foundation
With the price of hockey equipment and ice rentals at an all-time high, the sport is slowly becoming less accessible to younger generations. In honour of his father Craig, Zack started a foundation that provides financial support and equipment for players in need. When asked what motivated him to start the charity, Zack said he wanted to “Give underprivileged children a chance to play hockey” and “Give kids that might not have the same chances as everybody else. Give them that chance and see what they can do and get their start in hockey.” The foundation’s first event is a charity golf tournament that will take place July 31st called The Craig MacEwen Classic. Visit mybiggestfan.ca for more information and on ways to get involved.
