We were joined on the Popternative show by Atreyu guitarist Dan Jacobs to discuss the band’s latest release, The Beautiful Dark Of Life, their most ambitious release to date. Combining the triple-EP series that the band has been releasing over the past year, the album includes the A Torch In The Dark EP, together with The Hope of a Spark EP, and The Moment You Find Your Flame EP, as well as three new songs. The album is representative of pieces of a puzzle coming together and collectively amounting to something far greater.
“We draw strength from each other and give each other the space and support to be the best, most creative person we can be,” Dan Jacobs explains. “And together, right now, that makes us the best band we’ve ever been. Everything that we have put out to this point has built up to this moment,” concluded Jacobs.
This EP series and album are about self-discovery, finding your purpose and confidence, and your future again. In our interview, Dan talks about working on the 3 EPs and the recording process, the legacy of Atreyu, why he thinks the metal genre is so appealing, and much more.
