Apple TV+ today announced that their global hit Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been renewed for a second season. Apple TV+ also announced a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment which includes a second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and multiple spinoff series based on the franchise.
Season 1 premiered on November 17th, 2023 and stars stars Kurt Russell (The Thing, The Hateful Eight), Wyatt Russell (Night Swim, Under the Banner of Heaven), Anna Sawai (Shōgun, Pachinko), Kiersey Clemons (Dope, Somebody I Used to Know), Ren Watabe (461 Days of Bento), Mari Yamamoto (Kate, Tokyo Vice), Anders Holm (Workaholics, The Intern), Joe Tippett (The Morning Show, Mare of Easttown), and Elisa Lasowski (Versailles, Sympathy for the Devil).
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters follows two siblings (Anna Sawai and Ren Watabe) following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Spanning three generations, clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.
