With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics finally here, for the first time people will be able to see Surfing, 3×3 Basket-ball and Skateboarding at the event. We take a look at some sports that perhaps should also be added to the competition in the future.
Paintball
A team sport that requires a lot of skill that would be very entertaining to see each nation’s best compete.
Ball Hockey
Ice hockey is already in the Winter Olympics. Now is a good time to introduce Ball Hockey into the Summer event. It doesn’t require a lot of equipment, and could help grow the sport in countries where they can’t play ice hockey.
Mixed Martial Arts
There are already several different forms of martial arts in the Olympics. There is no denying the global reach that UFC superstars have. Imagine the amount of attention the Olympics would receive if Connor McGregor was fighting for Ireland or if George St. Pierre fought for Canada.
Spikeball
A fairly new sport that has been gaining a lot of popularity. This sport can be played anywhere in the world and is good at showcasing an individual’s skill and athleticism.
Flag Football
It’s mostly a North American sport, but flag football would be a great way to introduce the sport to nations globally. It doesn’t require the same amount of complexity and equipment as tackle football, so it wouldn’t be hard for new nations to pick up.
