We were joined back on the Popternative show by Daniel Zovatto (The Pope’s Exorcist, It Follows) to discuss his latest film, Woman of the Hour, which premiered on Netflix last month. Daniel stars alongside Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect, A Simple Favor) in the film, who makes her directorial debut, which tells a bizarre true crime story.
Woman of the Hour follows an aspiring actress in 1970s Los Angeles and a serial killer in the midst of a yearslong murder spree, whose lives intersect when they’re cast on an episode of The Dating Game. The cast also includes Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development), Nicolette Robinson (The Affair, One Night in Miami…), Pete Holmes (Crashing), Autumn Best (4400), Kathryn Gallagher (You, Parachute), and Kelley Jakle (Pitch Perfect, 42).
Daniel isn’t new to darker genres like thriller/horror as his filmography includes Don’t Breathe, It Follows, The Pope’s Exorcist, and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. But taking on the role of a serial killer is something he always wanted to do as an actor, he tells us.
Watch the full conversation with Daniel below where he tells us about the process to prepare to play Rodney and working with Anna Kendrick in her roles as actor and director.
Woman of the Hour is streaming on Netflix.
