We were joined on the Popternative show by Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives) who stars in Zach Cregger‘s (Barbarian) newest horror movie, Weapons, out today in theaters. Weapons also stars Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Julia Garner (Ozark), Alden Ehrenreich (Fair Play), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), Benedict Wong (3 Body Problem), and Amy Madigan (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels).
In Weapons, all but one child (played by Cary) from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, leaving the community questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.
On working in the horror genre, Cary says, “horror films are different but they’re very fun to work on because a lot of the stuff is actual effects and not CGI.” An example of this is the makeup resulting in an eerie smile Cary’s character has in the classroom (see photo below).

While many of his scenes are quite creepy and frightening, filming such scenes were a different experience for Cary as he explains, “it wasn’t that bad, in fact, at some times, it could be quite funny. It was just awesome to work on. [I know] it sounds weird calling a horror movie [experience] funny. But watching it, people will be jumping out of their seats; it is a scary, scary film.”
