We were joined on the Popternative show by Emily Alyn Lind and Shubham Maheshwari who star in the new Prime Video psychological thriller series, We Were Liars. The series is based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart, and all eight episodes launched on June 18.

The series follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman (played by Emily Alyn Lind) and her tight-knit inner circle, nicknamed the Liars, which consists of her cousins Mirren and Johnny, and Gat, (played by Shubham Maheshwari) who is not related to Cadence, but is the nephew of her aunt Carrie’s boyfriend, Ed. The Liars reunite every summer on Cadence’s grandfather’s New England private island. The Sinclairs are American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond—but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide.

We Were Liars also stars Esther McGregor (Babygirl) as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada (upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping) as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, Caitlin FitzGerald (Masters of Sex) as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer (Blood of Zeus) as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King (The Vampire Diaries) as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass) as Ed Patil, and David Morse (The Green Mile) as Harris Sinclair.

In our interview, Emily and Shubham discuss how the audiences get to see different perspectives of the same events from their characters, something that is also included in the novel and was important to keep in the story telling. Watch the full conversation below.

We Were Liars is streaming on Prime Video.
