We had the pleasure of chatting with Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis about her role as Crystal in the sports drama series Swagger, coming to Apple TV+ on October 29th, 2021.
Inspired by Kevin Durant’s experiences, Swagger explores the world of youth basketball, the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.
Alongside Quvenzhané Wallis, Swagger is led by an ensemble cast of stars including O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Shanelle Azoroh, Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Tessa Ferrer, Tristan Mack Wilds and Jason Rivera. Viewers will see that Swagger doesn’t mess around and tackles many important issues that can’t be ignored. Quvenzhané Wallis believes that this series will help start conversations on various issues which is needed:
I hope they relate to something, you know, I hope that they can start a conversation with someone they know or someone they love about one of the stories or just anything that they relate to. I hope it starts more and more conversations because there’s so much to talk about. There’s so much that’s brought up within the show that should be talked about.
