Back Story

A little over a decade ago, Dan’s best friend was getting married to Jon Hurwitz’s sister. As an emerging comedian, Dan was tasked with emceeing his friend’s wedding, and this is where he caught the attention of Hurwitz and Schlossberg. After seeing Dan’s natural ability to make people laugh, Josh and Hayden approached him after the wedding. It was then that they expressed their desire to collaborate with him. Fast forward to a few years later, and Dan secured the role of Anoush in the Cobra Kai universe.

Dan laughs about how it was a dream come true to get beaten up by William Zabka. “When I read that [the script], the 10 year-old boy in me lost his mind” Dan clamored. He tried to convince the producers that a stunt-double was unnecessary, but the crew did not want to be liable in case something happened. The director and producers weren’t willing to let anyone perform their own stunts unless the individual had a background in martial arts. Luckily enough, Dan mentioned to them that he had a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu. Eventually, he was allowed to partake in the fight scene.
