We were joined on the Popternative show by Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton (Euphoria, The Umbrella Academy) and Chloe Guidry (The Park, Wayward) to discuss the new Hulu series Under the Bridge, which debuted with the first 2 episodes on April 17th.

The 8-episode true crime series is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home, in Victoria, British Columbia. Through the eyes of Godfrey (Riley Keough) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.

Series regulars also include Izzy G., Aiyana Goodfellow, Ezra Faroque Khan, and Archie Panjabi. Javon and Chloe play classmates of Reena, Warren and Josephine, and may be implicated in her death, or know more than they are saying.

On what it was like to play Warren compared to his other roles, Javon says, “A lot of the characters that I have played in the past have been pretty dark, [and] pretty serious roles, but nothing like this, this is definitely more of a dynamic role, which I like though. There was a lot of research that went into this role and it was an important story that had to be told and I’m so excited for everyone to be able to see it and to be able to feel it and give justice to the murder that happened.”

“Even before I got the role I wanted to dive into who [Josephine] was and finding every piece that I could to create that puzzle. There are so many pieces, I came up with lot of different versions of Josephine, and putting yourself into their shoes, that was really important,” Chloe says on preparing to play Josephine.
