We were joined on the Popternative show by Izzy G. who can be seen playing Kelly Ellard in the new Hulu series, Under the Bridge, which premiered on April 17th. The 8-episiode miniseries is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true crime story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk who went to a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey and a local police officer, the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
Adapted for the screen by Quinn Shephard (Not Okay), Under the Bridge also stars Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Vritika Gupta (Cross Hollow), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six), Chloe Guidry (The Last Tycoon), Javon “Wanna” Walton (Euphoria), Aiyana Goodfellow (The Outlaws), Ezra Faroque Khan (Without Sin), and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife).
The final episode dropped on May 29th and we asked Izzy about her scene in court where Kelly is being questioned by the prosecutor: “Do you know what’s crazy? That was my audition scene. That was definitely difficult. I had support from the writers and my family and everybody [on set]. I was slamming my hands on the table and it [got] bruised after a bit, [and] I was grateful I had the support because it was not easy to go that far,” she tells us.

“It really did help me as a person [in the court scene] to have everyone there. So it really was shocking and nerve wrecking to have everyone watching me have this break down,” she adds.
On preparing to play a real person, Izzy says, “I didn’t know Kelly Ellard, I never met [her], and I didn’t want to meet Kelly Ellard. I really just focused on playing a troubled and disturbed 15-year-old girl who is very manipulative and [I carried] that out into everything.”
