Sony Pictures today revealed the official trailer for the upcoming film Harold and the Purple Crayon premiering in theaters August 2nd, 2024. The live-action family adventure is an adaptation of the beloved 1955 children’s classic picture book by Crockett Johnson.
Directed by Carlos Saldanha (Ferdinand, Ice Age) and produced by John Davis (The Blacklist, Prey), Harold and th Purple Crayon stars Zachary Levi (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Chuck), Lil Rel Howery (Vacation Friends, Get Out), Benjamin Bottani (Leo, Bromates), Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, Moana), Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education, Emma), with Alfred Molina (Three Pines, Spider-Man), and Zooey Deschanel (Physical, New Girl).
The synopsis reads: “Inside of his book, adventurous Harold (Zachary Levi) can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own.”
