Netflix today released the official trailer for the new limited series Griselda, starring and executive produced by Sofía Vergara, premiering globally on Netflix on January 25th, 2024. It is also executive produced by Narcos and Narcos: Mexico showrunner and directing team Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz.
It also stars Alberto Guerra (El Refugio, El Señor de los Cielos), Christian Tappan (Primate, La Reina del Sur), Martín Rodríguez (Zanahoria, El cuarto de Leo), Juliana Aidén Martinez (Tar Pit, Prodigal Son), Vanessa Ferlito (NCIS: New Orleans, Death Proof), and Carolina Giraldo (a.k.a Colombian singer-songwriter Karol G) making her on-screen debut.
Synopsis
The series is inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.”
“There has never been a woman who came close to achieving the power, wealth, and respect that Griselda did. And no trafficker, woman or man, ever elicited the same level of fear,” co-creater Eric Newman tells Tudum. He adds, “Griselda is a rise-and-fall story like none we have ever seen before. It’s thrilling, emotional, funny, scary, and tragic. Griselda is an antihero of the highest order and a series of contradictions at odds with herself.”
