Netflix today announced that Toby Wallace (Babyteeth, Pistol) has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation of the popular video game franchise. Per Netflix, “Details about his character remain tightly under oath — this is Assassin’s Creed, after all — but Wallace will enter a world teeming with covert alliances, hidden agendas, and centuries of conflict.” The new series was first announced by Netflix in July 2025.

The series is from showrunners Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming), who are leading the first live-action entry in Netflix’s partnership with Ubisoft.

Netflix adds, “Assassin’s Creed will be a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, the other fighting to preserve free will. The series will follow its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”

The Assassin’s Creed video game franchise first was introduced to the world in 2007 and blends historical settings that follows generations of Assassins and Templars in a centuries-long battle for freedom and control.

In 2016, the Justin Kurzel-directed film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Brendan Gleeson, and Jeremy Irons was released but was a box office bomb and met with low audience and critic scores.
